Project Description:

The Goshen Hospital Surgery Expansion represents the hospital’s desire to become outpatient driven and customer-focused.  The first floor of the addition brings Registration, Financial, Reception, Lab, Education and Out-Patient Services together for the first time around a central waiting space, a space that is immediately adjacent to the elevators up to Outpatient Surgery.

On the second floor, 8 fully-integrated operating rooms surround the department’s Central Decontamination and Sterilization areas.  Also on the second floor are PACU, Pre-Operative Holding and new staff locker and lounge areas.

The waiting area at Goshen is divided into several smaller “family rooms”.  This concept allows a physician to speak to a patient’s family members without moving them into a consultation room.  The family can stay in the enclosed, wood-trimmed family room until they are brought back to the patient, eliminating multiple moves and the square footage of multiple consultation rooms.
