Knox Community Schools CTE Addition

Knox Community School Corporation

Knox, IN

Addition

Project Description:

Knox Community School Corporation, seeking to bolster and unify its offering of courses in the Career and Technical Education arena is constructing a Career Center building addition to Knox High School.  Course offerings will include Robotics, Welding and Fabrication, and Agriculture with focus on plant and soil science.

Students travel from seven neighboring school corporations to participate in the CTE course offerings at Knox High School.  As such the Career Center has its own separate entrance from the high school that includes a secure entry and lobby space.  From a planning standpoint, each program has its own separate classroom and lab space.  In addition, the Agriculture program has a 1600 square foot greenhouse that allows students to see and experience firsthand plant growth and understand how differing soil conditions can impact crop yields.

MPG worked closely with the Owner and their CMc early in the design process to determine materials, systems, and construction methods that made the best use of the Owner’s limited budget.  These efforts provided assurances that the project will be able to be built within budget and within the owner’s timeline.
